1. Determine the Account Type: Subscription Account or Service Account
- Subscription Account: Primarily used to deliver information, similar to newspapers and magazines. You can only send one message per day. It appears in the WeChat subscription section of the end customer.
- Service Account: Service Account: Primarily used for service interactions. You can send up to four messages per month. It appears in the WeChat chat list and with a notification to users.
2. Prepare a Work Email
- Application Email: Prepare a work email to use for the company account application. It is highly suggested not to use a personal email.
3. Business License is Needed!
You can only register a company WeChat account if you have already registered your business and obtained a business license in China:
- Company Name: The official Chinese name of your company.
- Business License Registration Number: The registration number of your company’s business license in China.
- Legal Representative Information: Including the name and government ID number of the Chinese representative.
Registration Process
Step One:
- Open the WeChat Official Accounts Registration Page.
- Click “Sign Up” in the top right corner.
Step Two: Email and password
- Enter your email address, check your email for the activation link, and enter the verification code to activate your email.
- Set your password to log into the back-end.
Step Three: Choosing the account type
Choose the company registration location. It is recommended to choose 'Mainland China', otherwise, the functions will be limited.There are two types of company WeChat account:

Step Four: Fill in the company information
- Registration verification: Select "Enterprise" for the company type, then fill in the company name, business license registration number, and choose the registration verification method. There are three types of verification you can choose: "Legal Representative" requires a Chinese ID holder as the Legal Representative to verify, "Payment" - requires a bank account owned by your company to transfer a small amount (usually 0.1 to 0.3 CNY) to another bank account owned by WeChat's parent company, Shenzhen Tencent, and "WeChat" - requires a functional personal WeChat account to pay 300 CNY for verification.
- Account admin information: Fill in the account admin's information and his/her cell phone number to receive SMS for verification.

- Enter the account name, function description, and select the operating region (these will be vetted by WeChat).
- Depending on the chosen verification method, complete the verification to activate the account's functions.
